Russell George Pletcher, 75, of Deavertown, Ohio died at 10:05 AM, Tuesday, September 13, 2022 at his residence following a very short illness.
He was born June 11, 1947 in Zanesville, the son of the late Roy and Mildred (nee: Cain) Pletcher.
Russell retired after 39 years from LEMPCO Industries in New Lexington where he worked as a machinist. He served our country and defended our freedom in the US Army in the Vietnam War.
He was the proud owner of two classic cars and enjoyed showing them off at car shows and driving them around town. His other leisure activities included hunting rabbits and squirrels, fishing, watching OSU basketball, Morgan school sports and playing cards, especially Euchre.
He will be sadly missed by his family, his wife, of 53 years, Judy (nee: Tokie) Pletcher; his children and their spouses, Martha and Trent Pettit and Scott and Tina Pletcher; his granddaughters, Breanna, Carlene and Alyvia Pletcher; his great-grandsons, Braxton and Landen Bullock; his siblings, Roger Pletcher and Bobby (Ann) Pletcher and his cat, Oreo.
In addition to his parents, Russell was preceded in death by his brothers, Stephen and David and his sister, Ann Woodward.
Family and friends will be received 2-4 and 6-8 Thursday, September 15, 2022 at Goebel Funeral Home, 36 N. Buckeye St., Crooksville with Masonic services at 7:30 PM presented by Doric Lodge 172 F. & A.M. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM, Friday, at the funeral home with Pastor Marc Caton as celebrant. Russell will be laid to rest in Deavertown Methodist Cemetery with full military honors.
Memorial contributions may be made in Russell’s memory to Shriver’s Hospice, 601 Underwood St., Zanesville, Ohio 43701. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
