Richard Lee Smith, Jr., 60, of Crooksville died in the evening hours of Wednesday, November 11, 2020 at the Fairfield Medical Center following a sudden illness.
He was born on July 4, 1960 in Zanesville, one of three children to his father, the late Richard Smith, Sr., and his mother, Joan (Shirkey) Houk of Crooksville.
Richard served his country in the United States Marine Corps. Richard was the current plant manager at Buckeye Concrete in Lancaster where he had been employed for many years. Once Richard was finished working his day job, he turned to his true passion, bird hunting. He traveled all over, hunting pheasant and training his true pride, a short-haired pointer named Oliver. His family greatly loved Richard and he will be very much missed by all.
In addition to his mother, Richard is survived in life by his wife, Debora Smith; his daughter, Betsy Smith; his son, Brandon (Jennifer) Smith; his special friend, Sandra Nutter; his siblings, Sheryl (Kevin) Smith Longendyke and Lonnie Smith; and his nine grandchildren.
The family has chosen, at this time, to adhere to his wishes, to mourn privately and have Richard cremated.
