Joe Pat Dotson, Sr., 92, of Zanesville, Ohio, formerly of New Lexington, Arizona and Hendersonville, Tennessee died at 6:13 PM, Wednesday, January 26, 2022, at Morrison House in Zanesville.

He was born April 15, 1929, in Pineville, Kentucky, the son of the late
Everett and Mary (nee: Breeding) Dotson.

Joe was a retired coal miner from Peabody Coal Company near New Lexington.  He served our country and defended our freedom in the US Air Force during the Korean Conflict.  Joe was a member of Doric Lodge 172 F & A M in Crooksville, VFW Post 9090, Crooksville-Roseville, life member of American Legion Post 71 in Roseville and Amrou Grotto.  He enjoyed traveling with his wife, gambling and his favorite was playing poker.  Joe was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, brother and friend.

Left behind to mourn his passing are his children and their spouses, Lavonna Gayle and Tom Stoneburner, Rebecca Ann and Tom Sweeney and Joe and Lori Dotson; his grandchildren, Craig and Marecia Stoneburner, Lisa Tatum, Jodi Dotson (Shane Fox), Todd Dotson (Christy Ater), Michael (Jessica) Sweeney, Lance Sweeney and Troy (Taylor) Sweeney; his great-grandchildren, Andrew Buchanan, Aidan and Maddy Tatum, Kendall, Cadance and Spencer Stoneburner, Emma and Lane Sweeney, Caitlyn Fox and Romee Sweeney; his brother, Howard (Noelle) Dotson and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Wilma Jean (nee: Higdon) Dotson who died October 16, 2021 and his brothers, Gene, Jerry, Bob and Jack Dotson.

The family will hold a private funeral service with Pastor Marc Caton as celebrant and a Masonic service preformed by Peerless Lodge 591.  Joe will laid to rest next to his beloved wife in Community Gardens Cemetery near Somerset with full military honors.
