Jimmie Roland Holmes

March 8, 1958 — September 14, 2021

Corning

Jimmie Roland Holmes, 63, of Corning, died in the evening hours of Tuesday, September 14, 2021, at Genesis Hospital following complications of COVID-19.

He was born one of three children on March 8, 1958, to the late Jimmie L. Holmes and his mother, Wilma (Corp) Holmes.

During his working years, Jimmie held several jobs, he was a general mechanic, he worked on the Village of Crooksville Street Department, he had worked for the Value Auto Auction, and he was an over the road truck driver. But his true passion was being a rocker, he played the guitar for over 45 years and traveled all over the Midwest playing in various venues. He loved southern rock music and playing with his numerous bandmates. He traveled all over on his two Harleys--which also held a special place in his life. Although music and Harleys were his soul, his heart belonged to his wife, Penny, who he married in 2007 after having been together for 27 years. Jimmie was a devoted husband and son, he wanted to always take care of those whom he dearly loved.

Jimmie is survived in life by his wife/belonging, Penny (Huffman) Holmes, his mother, Wilma Holmes, his son, Rodney (Samantha) Miller, his stepdaughter, Jessica Dickerson; his sister, Karen Holmes Tittle, his grandchildren, Brianna, Conner, Roger, Starr and Salem, his mother-in-law, Margorie Huffman; as well as his seven great-grandchildren with one on the way.

In addition to his father, Jimmie L. Holmes, Jimmie is preceded in death by his brother, Gary Holmes, his nephew, Tylor Holmes and his father-in-law, Ray Huffman.

The family has chosen to mourn privately, and honor Jimmie’s wishes of a dignified cremation, where his remains will be spread under the grove of apple trees at his home.

Goebel Funeral Home is honored to be caring for Mr. Holmes and his family as they grieve the loss of their deeply loved Jimmie.
