Obituary

Douglas Eugene Frecker, 76, of Logan, Ohio, formerly of Crooksville died at 10:12 AM, Tuesday, February 7, 2023 at Genesis Hospice Morrison House in Zanesville.

He was born September 13, 1946 in Zanesville, the second son of the late Joseph H. and Dorothy M. (nee: McClintock) Frecker.

Doug was a 1964 graduate of Crooksville High School.  Following high school, he enlisted in the Ohio Army National Guard and for the next 29 years, 7 months and 3 days, he served in the guard, working as OMS Shop Chief with the 2-174th ADA.  He was a member of the Crooksville American Legion Post 222, served as Chairman of the Ohio Military Retiree Council.  Doug was also a member of the Goldwing Road Riders Association.  In his leisure time, he enjoyed fishing and golfing. He was quite a renown storyteller.  He could stretch a good story out for a while.  Doug was Episcopalian by faith.

Left behind to mourn his passing is his wife of 22 years, Kris (nee: Jones) Frecker; his daughter and son-in-law, Betsy and Dean Brocklehurst; his step-son, Daniel Pancake (Cherry Gilmette); his sister, Elaine Frecker; his brother, Mike (LaDonna) Frecker; his sister-in-law, Susie Frecker; his grandchildren, Wyatt, Garrett, Benett and Bridgett Brocklehurst: his first wife and mother of his children, Jeannine (Larry) Mercer; a special nephew, David Dalrymple and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

In addition to his parents, Doug was preceded in death by his sons, Robert Douglas, Andrew Paul and William Robert Frecker and his older brother, Steve Frecker.

Family and friends will be received 4-8 PM, Saturday, February 11 at Goebel Funeral Home, 36 N. Buckeye St., Crooksville.  Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM, Sunday, February 12, at the funeral home with Fr. Tony Frecker officiating with a eulogy by Doug’s daughter, Betsy.  Doug will be laid to rest next to his sons in St. Joseph Cemetery near Crooksville.
