Dorothy Mae Wood, 81, of Corning, passed into eternal life in the afternoon hours of July 13, 2021, at her home in Portersville.
She was born one of six children on November 1, 1939 in New Lexington to the late, Ezra and Florence (McCune) Hoops.
Dorothy was a Christian by faith and attended the Zion Christian Union Church. Following a long career, she retired from the Goodyear plant in Logan. In her spare time, Dorothy enjoyed turning the pages of many novels, drawing, and for a time, she tried her hand at wood whittling. She admired the beauty of nature, including her hummingbirds, her many flowers and watching the rain. Dorothy and her family traveled many times to the sandy beaches of the Outer Banks-and Myrtle Beach. All in all, Dorothy was a simple woman, she knew what she wanted in life. Her love will be greatly missed by her family.
Left to mourn her passing are her children, Tina Wood, Sharon Carr, Penny (Gary) Canter, James (Susan) Wood and Lori Maloney; her siblings, Ruth Ann Wilson, Patricia Forgrave, Peggy Owen and Edward Hoops. She also leaves behind a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren whom she loved dearly.
In addition to her parents, welcoming her into eternal life are her late husband, Johnny Rex Wood who died May 31, 2007; her grandson, Jonathon “Andy” Hook and her sister, Nancy Newlon.
Friends are invited to pay their final respects from 12:00 PM-3:00 PM, Friday, July 16, 2021 at the Zion Christian Union Church, 15834 Portie-Flamingo Rd, Corning, OH 43730, with funeral services to follow at 3:00 PM, with Pastor Robert Simpson presiding.
