Charles Merle Chipman

November 22, 1955 — February 7, 2022

Somerset

Charles Merle Chipman, Jr., 66, of Somerset, died in the morning hours of Monday, February 7, 2022, at his home because of a broken heart at the loss of his dear Diana just thirteen months before.

He was born, the only child to the late Charles and Helen (Gaddis) Chipman, Sr. on November 22, 1955, in New York.

Born to a very small family, he was more than happy to gain the love and friendship of his dear Diana’s family who cared for him all these years. Chuck and Diana enjoyed the prime years of their lives traveling all over, hauling the gear for the Rushing Winds biker church in Zanesville which they attended. Chuck was also well known for his packed mini vans, where he also would taxi his Amish friends all around the country. Chuck was a great man; his humor was genuine, and his love was enduring.

Surviving Chuck in life are his children, Diana (Tony) Bateson, David (Steven Maxwell) Savage, Josh (Chelsea Metzger) Savage and Tim (Trevor Kinney) Savage; his grandchildren, Taylor and William Lyons, Alyssa Burns, Nathan Bateson, Kash, Keeley, Austin and Alayna and Kameron Savage and his great-grandchildren, Jensen, Liam, Luke, Andrew, Kason, Krew, Tatum and Jaylee.

In addition to his parents, Chuck is preceded in death by his dearly beloved Diana Savage-Chipman who died January 5, 2021, as well as his great-granddaughter, Reagan Ann Marie Lyons.

Friends will be received, 2-4:00 PM and 6-8:00 PM, Thursday, February 10, 2022, at the Goebel Funeral Home, 36 N. Buckeye St., Crooksville. Funeral services will be rendered 1:00 PM, Friday, February 11, at the funeral home where Pastor Mike McGuire will be officiating. Chuck will be buried next to his beloved Diana in Community Gardens cemetery.

Expressions of sympathy may be posted on the funeral home’s website.
