William Frederick Harris

William Frederick Harris, 81, of Heath, Ohio passed away at 6:45 AM, Friday, May 18, 2018 at Hospice of Central Ohio in Newark following a brief illness.

He was born April 3, 1937 in Redfield, the son of the late Henry 'Buck' and Blanche (Larson) Harris.

Bill honorably served his country in the United States Air Force as an Airman Third Class from 1956-1962. Bill attended and was a devoted member of the Cornerstone Baptist Church in New Lexington. He retired from Rockwell International where he was a production manager, working in the plants in Newark and Hendersonville, North Carolina. During his free time, Bill enjoyed playing golf, bowling, various card games and rooting for the Cleveland Browns and the Ohio State Buckeyes. He was a devoted husband, loving father and a reliable papaw. Bill would take his family on camping trips, and always showed his affection to the ones he loved.

Bill is survived by his wife of fifty-nine years, Nancy (Gossman) Harris of the home; his daughters, Theresa Hoffer of Newark, Patricia (Kevin) Morgan of Heath and Melinda Harris of Hendersonville, NC; his son, Michael (Jan) Harris of Hendersonville, NC; his brothers, Henry 'Buck' (Shirley) Harris, Howard Harris, Norman Harris, Glenn 'Gene' (Bobi) Harris and David (Fran) Harris all of Crooksville; his grandchildren, Brandon (Melissa Bishop) Sturm, Laura (Glenn Robinson) Sturm, Billy (Martie) Turner, Shannon (Jay Hopper) Harris; Andrew Harris, Jeremy (Stephanie) Morgan, Kathleen (Allen) Hoglen, Sarah Morgan, Matthew Colby Harris and Autumn Barnes and his great-grandchildren, Blane, Braylen, Bexlee, Taylor, Paige, Olivia, Ava, Cowen, Levi, Liam, Serenity, Avery and Amelia.

In addition to his parents, Bill is preceded in death by his brothers, Olaf 'Doc' Harris, Jerry Harris and Bob Larson and his mother-in-law, Grace Gossman.

Family and friends will be received 3:00 PM-8:00 PM, Monday, May 21, 2018 at the Goebel Funeral Home, 36 N. Buckeye St., Crooksville. Funeral services and a celebration of Bill's life will be 11:00 AM, Tuesday, May 22 at the funeral home with Pastor Toby Cambron officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery in Crooksville with full military honors.

Memorial contributions may be made in Bill's name to Hospice of Central Ohio, 2269 Cherry Valley Rd., Newark, Ohio 43055. Envelopes will be made available at the funeral home.
