Veronica S. 'Vonnie' Reed

Veronica Sue 'Vonnie' Reed, 75 of Corning, Ohio stepped peacefully into the arms of the Lord at 11:07 AM, Wednesday, March 9, 2016 at Genesis Healthcare in Zanesville surrounded by her loving family.

She was born April 27, 1940 in West Jefferson, the daughter of the late Leonard and Sylvia (Hutchinson) Hayhurst.

Vonnie was a retired medical secretary, having worked for 25 years for Dr. McGinnis and 16 years for Dr. Shannon, both in Zanesville. She was a very devoted and active member of Iliff United Methodist Church in McLuney where she was involved in every ministry of her church. She was the church's choir director and pianist for over 55 years, she taught Sunday school, was the Bible School director and was involved in the Iliff Food Pantry and all fundraising events. In addition, she was a member of the Reading Circle, United Methodist Womens' Group and a 57 year member of Xi Kappa Omicron Sorority Beta Sigma Phi. Vonnie was extremely strong in her Christian faith and was a devoted follower of Jesus Christ. She will be greatly missed by all of her family and friends that so dearly loved her.

She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Raymond E. Reed whom she married on October 7, 1961; her son, David Reed of Corning; her grandchildren, Natasha Reed and Cheyenne Reed; her great grandchild, Xander Epler; several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; numerous friends and her church family.

Family and friends will be received 2:00-8:00 PM, Sunday, March 13 at Iliff United Methodist Church, 3992 Flint Ridge Rd., Crooksville where her sorority services will hold at 7:30 PM. Funeral services and a celebration of Vonnie's life will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, March 14 at the church with Pastor John Sellers officiating. Burial will follow in Iliff Cemetery.
