Vera Mae Pletcher, 70, of Zanesville died unexpectedly in the afternoon hours of Monday, June 16, 2025, at her home,
She was born one of 13 children on November 7, 1954, to the late James and Vera (Inman) Norton.
Vera was a kind and simple person, she enjoyed the thrill of playing BINGO, gathering around her friends and sisters, and spending time with her family. A member of Oakfield Baptist Church, Vera had a quiet and determined relationship with her God, she had weekly Bible studies on the phone with her sisters where they explored and deepened their relationship with the Lord and each other. Her family is saddened by her passing but rejoices in her living and in the hope that she is now at peace.
Surviving Vera in life are her children, Stephen (Stephanie) Pletcher, Jr. and Lilly (Ron) Eveland; her siblings, Alice Evans, Frances Middleton, Jerrie Smith, Diana McNulty, Trena Brown, Linda Mount and David Norton; her grandchildren, Katie Pletcher and Ellie Pletcher as well as her special friends, Regina Murray-Adams, Paula Love and Sheila Palko.
In addition to her parents, Vera is preceded in death by her husband, Stephen Pletcher, Sr., who died June 10, 2006, and her siblings, Betty Samson, James Norton, William Norton, Terry Norton and Jackie Norton.
Friends and family will be received from 10-2:00 PM, Thursday, June 19, 2025, at Goebel Funeral Home, 36 N. Buckeye St., Crooksville. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 PM with Pastor Marc Caton officiating. Vera will then be laid to rest next to her husband in Zion Cemetery.
