Velma M. Cope, 82, of Roseville, Ohio passed away at 6:15 AM, Wednesday, June 25, 2014 at her daughter's residence following an extended illness.
Velma was born December 15, 1932 in Crooksville, the daughter of the late Lester and Edith Lanning Donaldson.
She was the co-founder, along with her late husband, renown artist, Leslie Cope and director of the Cope Gallery in Roseville. Velma was the driving force and spirit of the gallery in her tireless efforts to support and promote her highly talented husband. Also, she was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Roseville.
Velma is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl and Randy Carr of Roseville; her sons and daughters-in-law, Jeff and Cheryl Wilson of Port Richey, Florida and Michael and Rita Cope of Severville, Tennesee; her sister, Dorothy Davis of Cincinnati; her brother, Jerry Donaldson of Adamsville; her former daughter-in-law, Cheryl (Steve) Camp of Zanesville; her grandchildren, Casey and Katrina Wilson, Brian and Olivia Wilson, David and Jessica Wisecarver and several step-grandchildren and her great-grandchildren, Dillon and Gavin, Logan and Dominic and Joleen and Logan and several step great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Velma was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Leslie Cope who passed away April 11, 2002; her sisters, Betty Ford, Marge Bess and Ruth Russell; her brothers, John Donaldson, Gene Donaldson and Gerald Donaldson and her granddaughter, Abbey Wilson.
Family and friends will be received 6:00-8:00 PM, Friday, June 27 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 104 N. Main St., Roseville. Funeral services and a celebration of Velma's life will be at 1:00 PM, Saturday, June 28 at the church with Pastor William Harris officiating. Cremation will follow.
