Steven Wayne Wood

Steven Wayne Wood, 72, of Roseville, Ohio passed away at 4:44 AM, Monday, May 12, 2025 at Genesis Hospital, Zanesville surrounded by his loving family.  He was born on Tuesday, May 12, 1953 in Zanesville, the eldest son of Tommy and Lelia Faye (nee: Wilson ) Wood.  After graduating from Crooksville High School in 1971, Steve began his working career at Superior Fibers in Bremen where he spent the next 30 years. After the closing of that facility, he was then employed at Cooper Standard in the maintenance department from which he retired. Steve married his high school sweetheart, Marlene Simmons on July 1, 1972. He was an avid hunter, enjoying hunting deer and turkey and he loved fishing. He was a huge supporter of the sports that his kids, grandkids and great-grandkids were involved in, attending most all of their sporting events. Steve was a quiet, gentle man and he loved his family. He is loved and will be greatly missed by many.  Left behind to mourn his passing and carry on his legacy are his beloved children and their spouses, Susan and Tom Hindel, Amber and Brad Savage and Matt Wood; his adored grandchildren, Victoria Wood, Lauren (Tanner) Watson, Emily (Bobby) Redway, Alisha (JT) Bunting, Riley Savage, Alexandra Savage, Marlee Wood, Charlotte Wood and Maddox Wood; his cherished great-grandchildren, Xavier Redway, Laurel Redway, Bristol Redway, Remington Redway, Gatlin Redway, Braxton Daniel, Phoenix Hundel, Meredith Watson, Layla Bunting, Lynlie Bunting, Maverick Savage and Mercedee Grandstaff; his siblings, Brenda Hoops, Janey Wood and Kelly (Teresa) Wood; his brother-in-law, Jeff Wolfe; his sister-in-law, Karen Wood and his special nephew, Ray Simmons.  In addition to his parents, Steve was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Marlene (nee: Simmons) Wood who passed away on June 16, 2003; his brother, Kenneth Wood; his sisters, Linda Wood and Pam Wolfe and his brothers-in-law, Ed Hoops and Marlin Wilson.  Family and friends may visit to pay respects 4-8 PM, Friday, May 16 at Goebel Funeral Home, 36 N. Buckeye St., Crooksville. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM, Saturday, May 17 at the funeral home with Pastor Marc Caton as celebrant. Steve will be laid to rest next to his wife in Mt. Horeb Cemetery, Roseville.
