Steven L. Hammer, 56, of New Martinsville, WV, formerly of Crooksville, died Thursday, October 15, 2009 in Glen Falls, NY. Steve was born August 30, 1953 in Zanesville, the son of Gerald and Sally Heskett Hammer of Crooksville. He was a truck driver for Gypsum Express and a former employee of Murry Trucking and Transmax Trucking. He was a member of the First Hope United Methodist Church in Crooksville. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his partner of eleven years, Barbara Marshall of New Martinsville, WV; his sons, Greg (Melissa) Hammer of Crooksville, Robert Hammer of Zanesville, Brian Marshall and friend Michelle Chin of New Martinsville, WV; daughters, Stephanee Hammer and her fiancee Robert Queen of Weston, WV and Leann Renigar of New Martinsville, WV; brother, Dave (Beth) Hammer of Sterling, IL.; sister , Kelly Hammer and her fiancee, Tristan Corbett of Newark; seven grandchildren, Levi and Trace Hammer, Alexis Hammer, Brian Marshall, Jr., Alexus Marshall, Micah Marshall, Isabelle Marshall and Mariah Renigar; his partner's parents, Edwin and Dorothy Crump; special friend, Stephenie Marshall of Tannersville, Pa; and several nieces, nephews and friends. He also leaves behind his faithful canine Shar-le Marie Marshall. Steve was preceded in death by his brother, Doug Hammer and his maternal and paternal grandparents. Friends may call from2-5 P.M., Friday, October 23, 2009 at the Jarvis-Williams Funeral Home, 1224 S, Bridge St., New Martinsville, WV. Friends may call Saturday, October 24, 2009 from 11 A.M until 1 P.M. at GOEBEL FUNERAL HOME, 36 N. Buckeye St., CROOKSVILLE, where funeral services will be held at 1 P.M. with Pastor Gay E. Blau officiating. Burial will follow in Crooksville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to First Hope United Methodist Church, PO Box 201, Crooksville, Ohio 43731.
