Shirley Pauline Hutchins, 86, of Crooksville died in the early morning hours of Wednesday, November 09, 2022, at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky.
She was born one of five children on June 25, 1936, a daughter to the late, Frank and Bertha (Woods) Downs.
Shirley was a strong advocate for helping the homeless, she spent many hours quilting blankets, knitting hats, and crocheting scarves for those in need. In addition to being selfless, Shirley was a worldly woman, and always up for an adventure. Even in her later years she traveled around the world with friends where they tried and enjoyed many new experiences.
Surviving Shirley in life are her children, Tammi (Tim) Van Nest, Barbara Busch, Pamela Thacker, Raymond Shoemaker, and Thomas (Margo) Thacker and several grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, preceding Shirley in death is her husband and father of her children, Glen Thacker and her late second husband, Reginald Hutchins; her son, Franklin Thacker and her siblings, Mary Knicely, Lee Downs, Robert Downs, and Harold Smith.
Friends and family will be invited to visit from 2:00-6:00 PM, Saturday, November 12, 2022, with a celebration of life being celebrating at 6:00 PM with Pastor Rolland Mitchell presiding. Following funeral services, Shirley will be cremated.
