Sarah Pearl Desarro

Nov 25, 1933 — Sep 12, 2026

Zanesville

Sarah Pearl “Sally” Desarro, rejoined her heavenly family and friends Saturday, September 12, 2026, at the age of 92.

She was born on November 25, 1933 in East Fultonham, a daughter to the late Raymond and Sarah "Pearl" (Tignor) Pride.

Sally spent her working years in the pottery industry, a field that reflected both her dedication and her steady hands. She worked as a pottery finisher for Alpine Pottery and Ungemach Pottery before retiring from Ransbottom Pottery. Her work was an important part of her life, and she gave herself to it with the same consistency that she brought to everything she did. Sally will be remembered for the happiness she found in everyday pleasures; she loved playing BINGO, enjoyed bowling in her younger years, and had a special fondness for gambling, which always brought a smile to her face. She also enjoyed shopping, taking long walks, and, most of all, spending time with her family. Many will remember that she almost always had caramels tucked into her pocket, ready to share. She was also an avid and loyal Ohio State Buckeye fan, cheering faithfully for her team through the years. She also had a fond interest in watching her WWE wrestling, especially her favorite, Roman Reigns, who she said "could put his boots under my bed any day" When her health would no longer let her live on her own, Sally moved into Willow Haven Nursing Home, while there she flourished in this new season of her life, making new friends with the staff and fellow residents, so much so she became known as "Nan" to everyone within the community. A lifelong practicing Catholic, Sally’s faith remained a guiding presence throughout her life. She was a member of the former Church of The Atonement, and even after moving to Willow Haven, she continued to receive the Eucharist every Wednesday. That devotion was a quiet and enduring testimony to the strength of her spirit. Sally’s life was one of resilience, and affection for the people and pleasures that made each day meaningful. She will be remembered with love and missed dearly by all who knew her.

Left behind to mourn her passing are her children, Debbie Ungemach, Ralph "Butch" (Susie) Desarro, Jim (Cristy) Desarro and Cheryl Gussler; her grandchildren, Tommy (Shea) Desarro, Josh (Jennifer) Ungemach, Jeff Ungemach, Shaun (Courtney) Desarro, Corrie (Joe) West, Justin Gussler, Jeremy Desarro and Jordan Desarro; her great-grandchildren, Jacob (Samantha) West, Dakota Desarro, Bradon Ungemach, Kaylie Gussler, Kassidy Gussler, Emily West, Ella Desarro, Jaylen Gussler, Isabella Desarro, Jaxon Desarro and Annabeth Desarro; her great-great-granddaughter, Riley West; as well as her sister, Bertha McDaniel; her sister-in-law, Jane Desarro, a very special niece, Jeannie Bible and numerous other nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Sally is welcomed into eternal life by her husband, Ralph Desarro who died December 8, 2014; her granddaughter, Heather Desarro, her siblings, Mary Lilly Wayne, Florence Mae Layton, Almeda Huffman, Nancy Lou Pride, John Riley Pride, Elmer Pride, Wilford Pride and her son-in-law, Lee Ungemach.
