Russell Keith Elliott, 92, of Crooksville, Ohio passed away at 10:10 AM, Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at Genesis Healthcare in New Lexington following an extended illness.
Keith was born November 9, 1924 in McConnelsville, the son of the late Ernest and Wilda Mackelfresh Elliott.
Keith valiantly served his country during World War II in the United States Army, where he received three purple heart decorations, two bronze star medals and the French Legion of Honor Medal. Keith was a life member of the American Legion Post 222 and the VFW Post 9090, both in Crooksville. Keith was the owner of Elliott Lumber Co. in Crooksville and Malta. In addition, Keith was a member of the First Hope United Methodist Church in Crooksville.
He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Russell Keith and Donnalyn Elliott, Jr., of Delaware.
In addition to his parents, Keith is preceded in death by his son, Steven Elliott; his sisters, Mary Catherine Elliott and Joan Closser and his brother, William Elliott.
Family and friends will be received, 10:00 AM-12:00 PM and 2:00 PM-4:00 PM, Saturday, June 3, 2017 at the GOEBEL FUNERAL HOME 36 N. BUCKEYE ST., CROOKSVILLE. Funeral services and a celebration of Keith's life will follow with full military honors at 4:00 PM, June 3 at the funeral home with Rev. Gay E. Blau officiating.
