Rosa Lavaughn Starcher, 98 of Newark, Ohio passed away peacefully at 7:15 PM, Friday, May 24, 2024 at New Albany Care Center. She was born October 7, 1925 near Amesville, the third daughter of the late Pearl and Edna (nee: Law) Ball.  Rosa graduated from Capital University where she gained her teaching certificate  and became an elementary school teacher, having taught at New Albany and Utica.  She was a   devoted educator and was revered by the many students she taught over the years.  After retiring from teaching, Rosa worked part-time for twenty years at Park National Bank in Newark.  She was a member of the Retired Teachers Association of Licking County.  Most recently, Rosa had attended Licking County Church of God.  Rosa greatly enjoyed reading and she was very involved in the genealogy of her family. Left behind to mourn her passing are her children, Karen Johnston and Ray and Brenda Starcher; her beloved grandchildren and their spouses, Beth Robertson and Adam (Ashley) Johnston; her adored great-grandchildren, Ethan and Emerson Robertson and Claire Johnston. In addition to her parents, Rosa was preceded in death by her husband, Harley, who she married on October 14, 1946 and who passed away on September 11, 2012 and her siblings, Lenley (Carol) Ball, Laura Fast and Belva Ball and her grandson-in-law, Dan Robertson.
