Roger Lee (Doc) Harris

Roger Lee "Doc" Harris, 60 of New Lexington, Ohio formerly of Crooksville passed away at 5:15 AM, Monday, February 7, 2011 at Fairfield Medical Center ER in Lancaster after an apparent heart attack.

Roger was born August 21, 1950 in New Lexington, the son of the late Frederick Harris and Thelma Fay Hanula Harris.

He was a former employee of many area potteries and was formerly a bartender and manager of some area taverns. Roger was a US Army veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a former member of the Crooksville Eagles 1979 and VFW Post 9090.

Doc is survived by his financee, Lucille Riffle with whom he resided; his sisters, Jeanette McConaha of Somerset and Betty Lou McCabe of Gallaway and special friends Scott Thompson, Tom Holman, Dan Goodfellow, Mike Steen, Richard Boring and Tracy and Greg Sullivan.

In addition to his parents, Roger was preceded in death by brother, James W. Harris, Sr.; sister, Lois Robinson; step-mother, Lovella Harris and nephews, Calvin McLaughlin and Timothy McCabe.

The family will receive visitors beginning at 11 AM, Thursday, Feb. 10, 2011 at GOEBEL FUNERAL, 36 N. BUCKEYE ST., CROOKSVILLE until time of funeral services and celebration of Doc's life at 2 PM with Rhonda Collins officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Horeb Cemetery near Crooksville with full military honors.
