Robert H. Bateson

Robert H. "Bob" Bateson, 73 of New Lexington, Ohio passed away at 5:40 PM, Wednesday, September 15, 2010 at his residence after a sudden illness.

He was born March 18, 1937 in Zanesville the son of the late Harry and Helen Guest Bateson. Bob proudly served our country in the US Army. He retired after 43 years as a machinist from Lempco in New Lexington and was Methodist by faith. He was a loving husband, father, and he loved his grandkids.

Bob is survived by his wife of 49 years, Joan Cavinee Bateson; his daughter and son-in-law, Lori and Jeff Holcomb of Crooksville; his son, Robert G. Bateson of New Lexington; his grandchildren, Anthony Bateson, Lacy Bateson, Rosella Bateson all of New Lexington, and T.J. Holcomb of Crooksville; his brother, Donald Bateson of Crooksville; his sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Bill Cawood of New Lexington; brothers-in-law, Paul Metzger of Pataskala and Charles Mills of Zanesville. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Roberta Mills and Abbie Metzger.

The Bateson family will receive visitors 2-8 PM, Friday, September 17 at GOEBEL FUNERAL HOME, 36 N. BUCKEYE ST., CROOKSVILLE where funeral services and a celebration of Bob's life will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, September 18 with Pastor Dick Newlon officiating.
