Raymond A. Riley

Raymond A. 'Ray' Riley, 75, of Crooksville, Ohio passed away at 7:05 PM, Monday, December 28, 2015 at Embassy Forest Hills Care Center in Columbus following an extended illness.

He was born March 30, 1940 in Roseville, the son of the late Samuel Birch and Oleene (Cook) Riley.

Ray was a former employee of the Watt Pottery in Crooksville and he retired after 36 years from Rockwell International in Newark. He spent 23 years as a devoted member of the Crooksville Fire Department and Squad. He was a member of UAW Local 1037 and a former member of the Knights of Pythias. In addition, Ray was a former Boy Scout Leader of Troop 252 and a little league baseball and football coach. He played softball for Rockwell and the Knights of Pythias teams and he was an avid swimmer. He attended the Methodist church.

Ray is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Estella M. (McCloy) Riley; his daughters, Belinda (John) Rider and Linda (Mark) Stollar , all of Warsaw, Indiana and Rhonda (Pete) Fulks of Zanesville; his sons, Raymond (Betty) Riley, Jr. of Texas and Jay Riley of Warsaw, Indiana; many grandchildren and great great grandchildren; his sister, Jean Gotzke of Buffalo, New York and his daughter-in-law, Lisa Riley of Warsaw, Indiana.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Randell Riley who passed away May 18, 2013; his brothers, Paul Riley, Harry Riley and Bob Holland and his sisters, Shirley Valentine Crain and Jane Shultz.

Family and friends will be received 2-8 PM, Monday, January 4 at GOEBEL FUNERAL HOME, 36 N. BUCKEYE ST., CROOKSVILLE. Funeral services and a celebration of Ray's life will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, January 5 at the funeral home with Pastor Marc Caton officiating. Crooksville Fire Department will honor Ray with a ladder truck arch during the procession to New Lexington Cemetery where burial will take place next his son, Randell.
