Ralph V. Maier

Ralph V. Maier, 90, of Crooksville, Ohio passed away at 11:10 AM, Friday, June 16, 2017 at The Oaks at Bethesda in Zanesville following an extended illness.

He was born September 16, 1926 in Morgan County, the son of the late Raymond and Verna Allard Maier.

Ralph served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a self-employed carpenter where he built many area houses. He was also a former foreman for the Crooksville Coal Co. In addition, Ralph was a 60 year member of the Peerless Lodge 591 F. & A.M. in Crooksville and a member of St. Luke Lutheran Church in Zanesville.

He is survived by his son, John Maier of Crooksville; his son-in-law, Dennis (Jenny) Porcher of Spokane, Washington; his close personal friend, Mary Braglin of Rosefarm; his grandchildren, Mark (Anna) Porcher, Kim Vorheis, Bryan (Mamie) Porcher, Nikki (Jerry) Shumaker, Johnny (Andrea) Maier, Scott (Brittani) Maier and Lynn (Kevin) Hosom and his great-grandchildren, Zachary Vorheis, Jenna Vorheis, Sadie Porcher, Devon Porcher, Julian Porcher, Alexander Porcher, Emalei Porcher, Jack Shumaker, Sydney Shumaker, Jonathan Maier, Rachel Maier, Eric Maier, Preston Maier, Carson Jennings, Clayton Jennings and Makenna Jennings.

In addition to his parents, Ralph is preceded in death by his wife Wanda Wood Maier who passed away June 11, 2010; his daughter, Janice Maier Porcher who passed away November 1971 and his brother, Richard Dean Maier.

Family and friends will be received 2:00 PM-4:00 PM and 6:00 PM-8:00 PM, Monday, June 19, 2017 at the GOEBEL FUNERAL HOME 36 N. Buckeye St. Crooksville. The Peerless Lodge 591 F. & A.M. will hold masonic services that evening at 7:30 PM. Funeral services and a celebration of Ralph's life will be 11:00 AM, Tuesday, June 20 at the funeral home with Pastor Bob Woodrum officiating. Burial will follow in Crooksville Cemetery with full military honors.
