Patrick Joseph Hannum, 89, of Crooksville, Ohio passed away at 2:45 AM, Sunday, June 24, 2012 at Genesis Hospice Morrison House in Zanesville surrounded by his family following a brief illness

Pat was born January 7, 1923 in Chicago, Illinois, the son of the late Quinten and Florence Purcell Hannum.

Pat served our country in WW2 in the Army Air Force where he was an airplane armorer gunner and flew 35 missions over Germany and Holland. He was deeply proud of his military service and spent the rest of his life honoring all veterans. He retired after thirteen years as the Perry County Veterans Service Commission officer for the Soldiers and Sailors Relief. Pat was a former dispatcher for Neff Trucking in Zanesville and Nicolozakes Trucking in Cambridge and bookkeeper and payroll clerk for Rose Hill Mines.. Pat was the former Democratic Central committeeman and sat on the Perry County Board of Elections. He was a member of Church of The Atonement Catholic Church, American Legion Post 222 both in Crooksville, VFW Post 9090, Crooksville-Roseville, Crooksville Eagles Aerie #1979, AM Vets Post 51 and DAV in Zanesville.

Pat is survived by his wife of 62 years, Marybelle Giles Hannum, whom he married on December 28, 1949; his daughters and sons-in-law, Teresa and Rick Huffman of Zanesville, Kathleen and Tim Danielson and Khristine and Mike Hanson all of Crooksville; his sons and daughter-in-law, Kevin and Takiko Hannum, Patrick James Hannum and Kelly Hannum, all of Crooksville; his sister, Shela Hannum of Zanesville; his grandchildren, Sean (Lindsay) Hannum, Josh (Michele) Dorsey, Karrie Marie (Aaron) Martin, Shane (Heather) Dorsey, Joey Hannum, Kaci Leigh Huffman, Hunter Huffman, Cole Huffman, Jennifer Hanson and Janelle Hanson, nine great grandchildren and his precious cats.

Family and friends will be received 4-8 PM, Tuesday, June 26 at GOEBEL FUNERAL HOME, 36 N. BUCKEYE ST., CROOKSVILLE. Vigil services and Rosary will be recited at 8:00 PM at the funeral home. Funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, June 27 at Church of The Atonement, 310 Winter St., Crooksville with Father Victor Wesolowski as celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery near Crooksville with full military honors.
