Monica Leigh Perani

May 8, 1998 — September 15, 2025

Corning

Monica Leigh Perani, born May 8, 1998, in Zanesville, Ohio to Holly and Jodi Perani, went home to be with the Lord on the morning of September 14, 2025. Monica was a beloved and cherished Mother to Weston and Montgomery (or as she called him, Gummy B), and was determined to provide her boys with the best life possible.

A 2016 graduate of Miller High School, Monica enjoyed her role as the President of the Miller High School FFA chapter. She was also a cheerleader and a member of the track team.

Throughout her life, Monica held many roles, but in 2021 she found her true calling, serving her community as a first responder. Monica was a proud paramedic and served as a first responder at the Athens County EMS, ValueCare in Lancaster, Genesis Community Ambulance and her first duty station, volunteering with the Corning Volunteer Fire Department. Monica was proud of her career and service, where she served her community well through helping others. Monica was very proud of the work she did while deployed from November to December of 2024 to North Carolina to assist with hurricane recovery efforts. She was highly respected in her field and was escorted by fire departments from three counties to the funeral home. Monica was very knowledgeable and was always telling us stories and when watching medical shows, was always telling us what they were doing wrong.

Other than her happy place of service as a paramedic, Monica’s loves of her life were her sons, Weston and Gummy B. She loved her children fiercely and worked as hard as she could to provide them with the best life possible. She loved nothing more than watching her sons excel in baseball, basketball, and racing their dirt-bikes. She was an extremely proud Mother and wanted nothing but the best for her children.

Monica was also a proud Aunt and was lovingly called Auntie M by her nephew and niece. Monica jokingly told her sisters that she was so excited that someone other than her started providing grandchildren to the family. Monica was proud to be her niece, Nora Lee’s Godmother.

Monica Leigh Perani is survived by her sweet boys, Weston David Carney and Montomgery Bryan Perani. She is also survived by her loving parents, Jodi and Holly Perani, her oldest sister Katlyn (Caden) Dunn, younger sister, Josie Perani (Eddie Dew), and younger brother, Joey Perani (Zachary Damon) as well as, her significant other, Austin Blair. Also surviving her are her special nephews, Henry Michael Dunn, Hudson Edward Dew, and brand new niece and Goddaughter, Nora Lee Dunn. She is also survived by her grandparents, Cheryl Heigley, Mary and Burchell Perani and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

She is preceded in death by her grandfather, David Heigley, her cousin, Lorianna Van Horn and special uncles, Ricky Dennis and Bryan Heigley.
