Michael Keith Williamson, Sr., 73, of Crooksville, Ohio died at 9:09 PM, Sunday, June 12, 2022 at Genesis Somerset ED.
He was born January 13, 1949 in Zanesville, the son of the late Wilbur and Eileen (nee: Rhodes) Williamson.
Mike had retired from Cooper-Standard Company in New Lexington where he had worked as a set-up person on the machines for 40 years. He had served our country and defended our freedom in the US Marine Corps during the Vietnam War, serving in the 3rd Tank Battalion of the 3rd Marine Division 1968-1971, seven months of which were spent in Vietnam. His memberships include life memberships in DAV-Zanesville, VFW Post 9090, Crooksville-Roseville, Marine Corps League in Newark, Vietnam Veterans of America in Newark. He was also a member of Crooksville American Legion 222 and Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 302 in Zanesville and First Hope United Methodist Church in Crooksville. Mike had served as a volunteer on the Crooksville Fire Department and EMS 1974-1990. In his leisure time, Mike enjoyed hunting, fishing and assembling model cars, trucks and military vehicles, especially tanks. He was well known for his ability to pick on people. His family said that was how you knew he liked you!
Left behind to mourn his passing is his wife of 49 years, Judy (nee: Welch) Williamson; his son and daughter-in-law, Michael K. (Suzanna) Williamson, Jr.; his granddaughter, Bryanna Marie Williamson Anders; his great granddaughter, Hazel Grace Anders and his sister, Marsha K. Williamson.
In addition to his parents, Mike was preceded in death by his grandparents, Roy, Bertha and Hazel Rhodes and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Hughie and Rosa Welch.
Family and friends will be received 2-4 and 6-8 PM, Thursday, June 16 at Goebel Funeral Home, 36 N. Buckeye St., Crooksville. Funeral services will be held at 1 PM Friday, June 17 at the funeral home. Mike will be laid to rest in Zion Cemetery with full military honors.
