Maureen Shela Hannum

Maureen Shela Hannum, 93, of Zanesville, formerly of Crooksville passed away at 10:59 AM, Sunday, October 19, 2014 at The Oaks at Bethesda in Zanesville following an extended illness.

Shela was born March 31, 1921 in Clemens, Michigan, the daughter of the late Quinton and Florence Purcell Hannum.

She was retired from the US State Department where had worked in Foreign Service in many countries such as France, Okinawa, Vietnam and Germany. Shela was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Zanesville.

Shela is survived by her sister-in-law, Marybelle Hannum of Crooksville; her nephews, Kevin (Taki) Hannum of Crooksville, Patrick J. Hannum and Kelly Hannum both of Crooksville and her nieces, Teresa (Rick) Huffman of Zanesville, Kathleen (Tim) Danielson and Khristine (Mike) Hanson, all of Crooksville.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Patrick J. Hannum.

Family and friends will be received 9:00-10:00 AM, Tuesday, October 21 at GOEBEL FUNERAL HOME, 36 N. BUCKEYE ST., CROOKSVILLE with a Rosary service recited during that time. Funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 144 N. 5th St., Zanesville with Father Stephen Hayes as celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery near Crooksville.
