Mary Burnece Butler

Mary Burnece Butler, 96, of Crooksville, Ohio passed away at 6:45 AM, Friday, December 9, 2011 at her residence following an extended illness.

Burnece, as she was known by all, was born April 24, 1915 in Mason City, Iowa, the daughter of the late William and Frances E. Lanning Barber.

Mrs. Butler retired in 1964 from United Telephone Company where she had worked as an operator and office manager. She had formerly attended Iliff United Methodist Church in McLuney. She was a member of Carnation Chapter 167 Order of Eastern Star of New Lexington, Higher Ideals Music Club and Zanesville Concert Association. Burnece was quite an accomplished ballerina and she took great pride in her dancing ability.

Burnece is survived by her son, Paul David Butler of North Carolina; her grandsons, Paul D. Butler, Jr. of Eustis, Florida and Derek A.(Judie) Butler of North Carolina; six great grandchildren, Taylor, Kaitlin, Liam, David James, Brian and Joe Butler.

In addition to her parents, Burnece was preceded in death by her husband, Robert A. Butler who passed away in 1975 and her daughter-in-law, Carol 'Kay' Butler.

Family and friends will be received 6-8 PM, Friday, December 16 at GOEBEL FUNERAL HOME, 36 N. BUCKEYE ST., CROOKSVILLE. Funeral services and a celebration of Burnece's life will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, December 17 at the funeral home with Pastor John Sellars officiating. Burial will follow in Crooksville Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Genesis Hospice and Palliative Care, 715 Forest Ave., Crooksville. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
