Mable M. Steele, 88, of Adams Lane Care Center, Zanesville, Ohio formerly of Crooksville passed away at 10:45 P.M., Saturday, April 24, 2010 at the care center.
She was born December 22, 1921 in Oakfield, Ohio the daughter of the late Herman Edgar Cavinee and Norene Margaret Frazier Cavinee Strickland.
Mable was a former sales associate at Peart's Furniture in Crooksville. She was a member of Maple Ave. Christian Church where she sang in the choir. Mable was the former treasurer of the Ceramic City CB Club, formerly a member of the Perry County Chapter of the Ohio Geneological Society, former trustee and treasurer of the Crooksville Better Housing Board and former trustee for Perry County Metropolitan Housing Authority.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Terrie and Rob Lewis of Crooksville; her grandchildren, Robert William (Rikki) Lewis and Heidi Lynn (Joseph) Jenkins; great grandchildren, Drew and Libby Jenkins, Erica Williams and Brylee Lewis; half-sisters, Yvonne Jeffers, Joan Bateson, and Kay Newman; step-sister, Betty Bateson; and half-brother, Charles Strickland.
In addition to her parents, Mable was preceded in death by her husband, Carroll D. Steele who died March 15, 1994; her son, Herman Walter Steele; brother, Clifton L. Cavinee, sisters, Bela Ferguson and Betty Oiler; step-mother, Minnie Reed Cavinee; and step-sisters, Dixie Welch, Marlene Swint, and Mary Pauline Jones.
The family will receive visitors from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M., Tuesday, April 27 at GOEBEL FUNERAL HOME, 36 N. BUCKEYE ST., CROOKSVILLE where funeral services and a celebration of Mable's life will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, April 28 with Pastor Conard Wolf officiating.
