Leota Marie "Dode" Barton

Leota Marie "Dode" Barton, 94, of Crooksville, peacefully passed away at 2:30 PM, Monday, October 20, 2014.

Dode was born February 1, 1920 in Roseville, the daughter of the late Frank and Ina Probasco Grant.

She was a member of the Crooksville Eagles Aerie 1979 where formerly she served as President, she was a Charter member of VFW Auxiliary 9090 Crooksville/Roseville and the American Legion Auxiliary 222. Dode is credited with naming the former Big Apple Nightclub in Crooksville.

Dode is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Micky and Paul Williams of Crooksville; her grandchildren, Tracey (Bobbi) Dozer, Tammy (Rob) Dutton and Travis (Jessica) Dozer; her great-grandchildren, Zach (Amber) Dozer, Dirk (Kim) Dozer, Chelsie Dutton, Cole Dutton, Lexie Dozer and Luke Dozer and her great-great-grandchildren, Maddox Dozer and one on the way.

In addition to her parents, Dode is preceded in death by her husband, Edgar Barton who passed away on August 28, 1984; her sisters, Mary, Tovena, Duilla, Becky and Eva; her brothers, Franklin, Hughie, Ned, Homer and Nicholas and her former companion, Ed Loggins.

Friends and family will be received 4:00 PM-8:00 PM, Thursday, October 23, 2014 at the GOEBEL FUNERAL HOME, 36 N. BUCKEYE ST., CROOKSVILLE, with Eagles Auxiliary services starting at 7:30 PM. In keeping with Dode's wishes a dignified cremation will follow. A graveside memorial service will be 11:00 AM, Saturday, November 1, 2014 at Mt. Horeb Cemetery near Crooksville with Rev. Con Wolf officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made in Dode's name to the Maple Avenue Christian Church, 112 Maple Ave., Crooksville.
