Leonard M. Dunwoody

Leonard M. Dunwoody, 92, of Nashport, Ohio passed away at 12:52 AM, Tuesday, August 8, 2017 at FairHope Hospice Pickering House in Lancaster following an extended illness.

He was born April 6, 1925 in Moxahala, Ohio, the son of the late Clarence and Viola (Saxton) Dunwoody.

In 1940, at the age of 15, Leonard worked in the 3-C Camp in Las Vegas, Nevada. He retired from Owens-Corning Fiberglass in Newark and was a member of the G.B.B.A. Union, Local #244. Leonard was Protestant by faith.

He is survived by his daughters, Connie (Ronnie) Pinkerton of Phoenix, Arizona, Diane Leroy of Nashport and Barbara (Roger) Severt of Stockport; his sons, Gary (Bonnie) Dunwoody of New Lexington, Larry (Sherri) Dunwoody of Redfield, and Ronald Dean (Linda) Dunwoody of Crooksville; his sisters, Waneda Nogrady of Millfield, Garnet Hampp and Nellie (Ben) Kirkbride, all of Zanesville; fifteen grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren and ten great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Leonard was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Jessie Angelee (Fortney) Dunwoody who passed away February 7, 2008; his beloved daughter, Andrea 'Pandy' Dunwoody, who passed away February 9, 2005; his grandson, Bradley Dunwoody; his great grandson, Anthony Kelly; his sisters, Ethel LaFollette, Edna Anderton, Kate Nelson, Wanda Finn, Helen Kranyik and Linda LaFollette; his brothers, Carl, Alfred, Danny, Bill and Clarence Dunwoody, Jr. and his son-in-law, Bill Leroy.

Family and friends will be received 2-4 and 6-8 PM, Friday, August 11, 2017 at GOEBEL FUNERAL HOME, 36 N. BUCKEYE ST., CROOKSVILLE. Funeral services and a celebration of Leonard's life will be held at 12:00 noon, Saturday, August 12 at the funeral home with Pastor Aaron Bounds officiating. Burial will follow next to his wife in Iliff Cemetery in McLuney. Contributions may be made in Leonard's memory to FairHope Hospice, 282 Sells Rd., Lancaster, OH 43130.
