Launfull C. "Fuzzy" Salyer, Sr., 79 of St. Rt. 37, Crooksville, Ohio passed away at 9:45 A.M., Saturday, May 8, 2010 at Genesis Good Samaritan Hospital in Zanesville.
He was born May 10, 1930 in Virginia the son of the late Frank and Sarah Cox Salyer. Launfull was a heavy equipment operator who had retired from Local 18 Operating Engineers. He served our country in the US Navy and was a veteran of the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War. He was a life member of Eagles Lodges in Crooksville and New Lexington, a member of VFW Post 9090 Crooksville-Roseville and a member of the American Legion.
Launfull is survived by his daughters, Polly Salyer of New Lexington, Jean Ray of Trenton, Michigan, Patty(Ron)Neff and Sue Salyer all of Crooksville; his sons, Launfull(Sharon)Salyer,Jr. of New Lexington and Frank(Alena) Salyer of Crooksville; his sister, Veinis Fish of Dells, Wisconsin; ten grandchildren, Steven, Sandra, Amy, Angie, Nick, Justin, Heather, Melissa, Melanie,and Ashley, fifteen great grandchildren and one great great grandchild; a special friend, Florence Gross of New Lexington; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death his wife Betty Jean Kirk Salyer who died April 19, 1998; grandchildren, "Shorty" Thomas and Laura and several brothers and sisters.
The Salyer family will recieve friends from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M., Monday, May 10 at GOEBEL FUNERAL HOME, 36 N. BUCKEYE ST., CROOKSVILLE where funeral services and a celebration of Launfull's life will be held at 1:00 P.M., Tuesday, May 11 with Pastor Larry Taylor officiating. Burial will follow in Iliff Cemetery at McLuney with full military honors. Memorial contributions may be made to Genesis Hospice and Palliative Care, 713 Forest Ave., Zanesville, Ohio 43701.
