John L. "Jack" Mattey, 86, passed away peacefully at his home in Zanesville, on Saturday, March 8, 2014.
John was born February 25, 1928 in Zanesville to the late John Anthony and Ethna Melissa George Mattey.
He was a retired AT&T telephone technician and an avid fisherman. John also enjoyed playing cards at the Zanesville Eagles.
John is survived by his wife, Patty Pitcock Mattey of the home; his sons, Bill Mattey of New York, Bob Mattey and Tammi Hildenbrand of Chauncey; his step-daughter, Dian Kirkpatrick of Crooksville; his step-sons, Terry and Robin Blosser of Zanesville, Larry and Maria Blosser of San Antonio, TX; his sister Nancy Ennis of Corbin, KY; his seven grandchildren and his twelve great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his daughter, Mary Ann Wickham; his brother, Jim Mattey; and his sister, Joy.
Friends and family will be received Monday, March 10, 2014 from 2-4:00 PM and 6-8:00 PM at the GOEBEL FUNERAL HOME, 36 N. BUCKEYE ST., CROOKSVILLE. Funeral services and a celebration of John's life will be held Tuesday, March 11, 2014 at 11:00 AM at the funeral home with Rev. Gay Blau officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Horeb Cemetery in Crooksville.
