Jennie Ruth Jirles

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Jennie Ruth Jirles, 92, on January 24, 2026, of Crooksville, Ohio. She was born on January 12, 1934, to the late Everett and Mary Mack in Birmingham, Ohio, Jennie is now welcomed into God’s kingdom by her late husband, Laird Jirles. 

Jennie had a fulfilling career, working at Windsors, Hull Pottery, and Mount Perry Cheese, where she eventually retired. She is survived by her daughter, Diane Penrod (Melvin), and her grandchildren, Eric Penrod (Jayne), Darlene Hartley (Donald), and Chad Penrod (Kasey). Jennie was also a cherished great-grandmother to Kayla Bateson (Anthony), Konor Penrod (Elizabeth), Joey Penrod (Jenny), Abby Penrod (Justin Hrinko), Parker, and Irelyn Hartley. Additionally, she was the greatest great-great-grandmother to Kohen and Kinsley Bateson, as well as Robin Penrod. Her nephews, Gary Wayne King and Tim King, also mourn her loss. 

As the matriarch of our family, or also known as Old Faithful, Jennie took a piece of all our hearts with her. We are left with countless cherished memories. Anyone who knew Jennie was welcomed by her infectious smile and warm personality. She imparted many life lessons, teaching us to be strong, loving, and caring. Her homemade noodles were a beloved staple in our family gatherings. Jennie was adored by all who met her, and she will be greatly missed. At 92, she showed us that age is just a number, continuing to live life on her own terms—whether it was attending her grandchildren’s games and dances or walking her beloved dog, Angel. Jennie also found joy in tending to her yard and flower beds.

Jennie is proceeded in death by her parents, Everett and Mary Mack; her husband, Laird Jirles; her sister, Geneva King and her nephew, Mark King.

Calling hours will be from 11-1:00 PM, Friday, January 30, 2026, at Goebel Funeral Home, 36 N. Buckeye St., Crooksville. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 PM with Pastors Conard Wolf and Jonathan Thomas officiating. Jennie will be laid to rest in Northwood Cemetery in Cambridge beside her loving husband, Laird.
