Jeffrey Bruce Sherrick of Montgomery, Texas, formerly of McLuney, Ohio, passed away on May 4, 2026. Jeff was born December 1, 1954 in Zanesville, the son of Arnold and Ellie Sherrick.
Jeff is survived by his wife of 48 years, Victoria Ann Starcher Sherrick, formerly of Crooksville, Ohio, and his three sons and their families: Blake, Paige, Palmer and Campbell Sherrick of the Woodlands, TX; Grant and Sheryl Sherrick of New York City, NY; Alex, Christy and Aurora Sherrick of Denver, CO.
Jeff is also survived by his brothers and sisters: Karl Sherrick (Char), Zanesville, OH; Stephan Sherrick (Lucy), Cadiz, KY; Renee Lane (Brian), Manchester, TN; Greg Sherrick, McLuney, OH and Karen O’Conner (Ron), McLuney, OH.
Jeff is preceded in death by his parents, Arnold and Ellie Sherrick of McLuney, OH.
Jeff was the third born of six children. He met the love of his life, Victoria, in Junior High at Crooksville. They had been together ever since. Jeff was a 1973 graduate of Crooksville High School. Jeff was a star linebacker for the Ceramics; earning First Team All Muskingum Valley League, First Team All Southeast Ohio and Special Mention All Ohio.
Jeff graduated from Marietta College with a degree in Petroleum Engineering and is enshrined in the Department of Petroleum Engineering and Geology Hall of Fame. Jeff enjoyed a long and successful career in the oil and gas industry and was regarded internationally as a trusted expert in his field.
Upon graduating from Marietta College, he and Vicky were married and moved to Lafayette, LA. There he began his career in oil and gas. After several years of offshore and office positions, they moved to Denver, CO where Blake and Grant were born. They made one more move to Houston, TX where Alex was born and they raised their family for the next 40 years.
Jeff loved woodworking, home projects, gardening and good wine. He especially loved golfing, Ohio State football and traveling with friends and family all over the world. In recent years he loved his newest title of Grandpa the very most.
Jeff rarely missed any kid activities. He would spend hours building or fixing anything, even if it meant travel from Texas to Colorado to do so. He had endless energy and would outwork anyone. He was encouraging, thoughtful and kind, with an infectious laugh and smile. He worked tirelessly to ensure the best for his family his entire life.
A memorial service was held in the Robb Chapel of the Woodlands Methodist Church. Jeff chose to be cremated and his remains have been placed in the wall of the Memory Garden of the church.
