Jean Hammer, 86 of Walnut St., Crooksville, Ohio passed away at 6:15 am, Wednesday, June 23, 2010 at New Lexington Care and Rehabilitation Center after an extended illness.
Jean was born January 25, 1924 in Crooksville, the daughter of the late Leroy E. and Jessie Stought Horn. She was a homemaker. Her family stated that these words best described Jean: compassionate, passionate about living life, ready to go-even if she did not know where, hospitable, warm, thoughtful and caring, generous, and she always had three turkeys in the freezer for a get-together. Jean was a member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses at Six Mile Turn.
She is survived by her daughter, Lori J. Hammer of Crooksville; her sons and daughters-in-law, Roy and Barb Hammer of Heath and Mike and Patricia Hammer of San Francisco, California; brother, Charles (Gretchen) Horn of Naples, Florida; grandchildren, Amy, Tricia, Russ, Rod, Greg, Jessica, Derrick, David, and Denise; eighteen great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
In addition to her parents, Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd "Pete" Hammer who died May 25, 1994; her sister, Jackie Williams and one grandson, Christopher Parsons.
The family will receive friends 5-8 pm, Friday, June 25 at GOEBEL FUNERAL HOME, 36 N. BUCKEYE ST., CROOKSVILLE where funeral services and a celebration of Jean's life will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, June 26 with Speaker Ryan Tevis officiating.
