Hazel F. Murphy, 90, of Crooksville, Ohio passed away at New Lexington Care & Rehabiliation Center following an extended illness.

Hazel was born January 31, 1923 in Crooksville, the daughter of the late Edward E. and Viola Lee Stephenson Allton.

Hazel graduated from Crooksville High School attended Meredith Business College. She worked at the Crooksville China Company for fifteen years, Continental Can in Zanesville for four years and retired in 1988 from Putnam Transfer in Zanesville after 28 years. She was a lifetime member of New Hope United Methodist and sang in the choir for sixty years with her sister, Mary.

She is survived by her long-time friend, Lois Talbot of Crooksville; her nieces and nephews, Mary Beth (Bruce) Krauss, Suzanne (Neil) Dickson, Joyce McDonald, Cheryl (Steve) Hickman, Deidre (McDonald) Fuller, Earlene (Ken) Smith, Pamela (Raymond) Barber, Lisa (Steve) Downing, Fred (Paula) Longstreth, David Dishon, Barry Allton, Jeffrey (Laura) Allton; her brothers-in-law, Tom Gossman and Bill Aichele. She has several great nieces and great nephews. Hazel has several special friends including Gloria Keylor and the ladies at the center.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Murphy who passed away February 17, 1976; her brothers, George, Earl, and Dale Allton and sisters, Harriette Mae Aichele and Mary Lee Gossman.

Family and friends will be received 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, Tuesday, November 26 at GOEBEL FUNERAL HOME, 36 N. BUCKEYE ST., CROOKSVILLE. Funeral services and a celebration of Hazel's life will be held at 1:00 PM Tuesday at the funeral home with Pastor Tom Locke officiating. Burial will follow in Crooksville Cemetery next to her husband.
