Harry E. Sonny Smith

Harry E. 'Sonny' Smith, 75 of Roseville, Ohio passed away at 9:08 AM, Saturday, February 16, 2013 at Genesis Good Samaritan Hospital in Zanesville following a brief illness.

Sonny was born March 19, 1937 in Rose Farm, the son of the late Harry Smith and Claudine Rosser Smith Appleman of Portersville.

He retired from Owens-Corning in Newark where he had worked as a machinist. He was Methodist by faith and attended Iliff United Methodist Church in McLuney.

In addition to his mother, Harry is survived by his wife of 55 years, Sue Bateson Smith; his daughters, Teri Neff of Roseville and Robin (Jim) Baker of Zanesville; his son, Kevin Smith of Roseville; his sister, Mary Lou (James) Campbell of Avondale; his brothers, Ronnie (Dee) Smith of Crooksville, Bob (Dana) Smith of Malta, Randy (Vicki) Smith of Crooksville; step-brothers, Steve (Cathy) Appleman of Somerset and David (Vicki) Appleman of Wilmington; grandchildren, Chelsie Emory, Jimmy (Ashley) Baker and Justin (Erika) Baker and great grandchildren, Lucas and Maddox Baker.

In addition to his father, Sonny was preceded in death by his brother, Richard Lee Smith; his step-father, Charles Appleman and his son-in-law, Christopher Neff.

Family and friends will be received 2-4 & 6-8 PM, Monday, February 18 at GOEBEL FUNERAL HOME, 36 N. BUCKEYE ST., CROOKSVILLE. Funeral services and a celebration of Harry's life will be held at 1:00 PM, Tuesday, February 19 at the funeral home with Pastor Arthur Potts officiating. Burial will follow in Iliff Cemetery in McLuney.
