George Edward Carr

George Edward Carr, 70, of Crooksville, Ohio passed away at 10:46 PM, Thursday, October 13, 2011 at Cedar Hill Care Center, Zanesville with his loving family around him.

George was born July 6, 1941 in Hocking County, the son of the late Dennis and Nancy Mae (Nelson) Carr.

Mr. Carr was a very skilled handyman and could fix anything. Among his various jobs over the years, he was a salesman, cabinetmaker and security guard. George served our country in the US Army during Vietnam. He was Catholic by faith.

George is survived by his children, Maria Carr and George (Tammy) Carr, Jr. all of Lancaster; Anne Stackhouse of Zanesville and Gemma (Eric) Bowen of Crooksville; grandchildren, Jordan, Lance, Parker, Tanner, Tosha, McKenzie, Kevin, Chase, Paris, and Paige; sisters and brothers, Irene Whitcraft of Rockbridge, John (LiAnn) Carr, Linda (Tom) Gleissner, sister-in-law, Lorean Carr and brother-in-law, Jack Blankenship, all of Lancaster; numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by his wife, Wilma Lee Barnhart Carr who passed away March 10, 2006; infant brother, Dennis Carr, Jr.; brothers, Harold Carr and Dean Carr and sister, Karolyn Blankenship.

Family and friends will be received at 10:00 AM until 11:45 AM, Monday, October 17 at GOEBEL FUNERAL HOME, 36 N. BUCKEYE ST., CROOKSVILLE. Funeral mass will be celebrated at 12 noon at Church of The Atonement Catholic Church, 310 Winter St., Crooksville with Father James Csaszar as celebrant. Cremation will follow. Interment of George's cremains will take place in Iliff Cemetery at a later date.
