Frederick Lee Kinney, Sr.

Frederick Lee Kinney, Sr., 55, of New Lexington died in the early morning hours of Sunday, February 26, 2023 at the Genesis Emergency Room.

He was born one of four children on January 4, 1968 in Zanesville, a son to the late, Charles Sr. and Merribelle (Ervin) Kinney Wheeler.

Fred was a jack of all trades and could work on and fix anything. He was a self-employed landscaper for most of his working life. His favorite past time was watching Sci-Fi movies and television shows. He used to keep his kids home from school on occasion to spend time with them watching Stargate and Xena Warrior Princess.

Surviving him in life are his wife of 25 years, Lenna (Mauller) Kinney; his children, John (Cindy) White, Raymond Kinney, Frederick III (Kristin) Kinney, Maria Randall and Angel Kinney; his siblings, Lisa Kinney, Tammy Thorp and Frances White; his mother-in-law, Rebecca Swiney; his grandchildren, John Jr., Damian, Landon, Gage, Orion, Layla, Lorenzo, Adalynn, Anastasia, Ezra and one on the way; his nieces and nephews, Jodie, Kimmie, Amber, Ashley, Jakey, Kayla, Emily, Jennifer, David and Megan; a whole host of kids who adopted him as their “Dad”, as well as many other nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.

In addition to his parents, preceding Fred in death are his son, Frederick Kinney II, his brothers, James Kinney, Charles “Bur” Kinney, David Wheeler Jr. and his stepfather, David “Pops” Wheeler.

Friends are welcome to visit from 4-8:00 PM, Wednesday, March 1, 2023 at the Goebel Funeral Home, 36 N. Buckeye St., Crooksville. A celebration of life will follow at 8:00 PM at the funeral home with Donnie Chevalier leading the service. In keeping with his Native American heritage, Fred will be cremated where his soul will be set free back into nature.
