Eleanor Jean McIntyre

September 27, 1931 — February 24, 2015

Eleanor “Jean" McIntyre, 83, of Zanesville, formerly of Crooksville, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at 6:56 PM, Tuesday, February 24, 2015 at Emeritus at North Hills in Zanesville following a lengthy illness.

She was born September 27, 1931 in Six Mile Turn, the daughter of the late Otto White and Rose (Paxson) White.

Jean married the love of her life, Jack McIntyre on June 5, 1948 and was a member of the Somerset United Methodist Church.

She retired as an educator with Crooksville Schools and Bearfield School where she was an elementary teacher and acting principal following 27 years of service. She was a member and past president of Delta Kappa Gamma of Perry and Hocking County. She was an accomplished shuffleboard player, enjoyed crocheting, reading and boating. Jean especially loved to travel with her husband and has been to all 50 states and 9 countries. She was the honoree for the first Zanesville Annual Alzheimer's Walk in 2013. Jean was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, who greatly enjoyed the time she spent with her family.

Jean is survived by her deeply devoted husband of over 66 years, Jack McIntyre of Zanesville; two sons, Phillip (Rita) McIntyre of Mt. Perry and Kevin (Deborah) McIntyre of Zanesville; four grandchildren, Matthew (Andrea) McIntyre, Maleah (Adam) Kendrick, Maxwell (Sachi) McIntyre and Jonathan McIntyre; four great-grandchildren, Rylan Kendrick, Jaxon Kendrick, Garrison McIntyre and Hana Grace McIntyre; one sister, Helen Nelson of Somerset; two brothers, Jerry (June) White of Pickerington and Paul (Adele) White of South Webster and several nieces and nephews.

Friends and family will be received 2:00 PM-4:00 PM and 6:00 PM-8:00 PM, Friday, February 27, 2015 at the GOEBEL FUNERAL HOME, 36 N. BUCKEYE ST., CROOKSVILLE. Additional calling hours will be held one hour prior to funeral services from 10:00 AM-11:00 AM. Funeral Services and a celebration of Jean's life will be 11:00 AM, Saturday, February 28, at the funeral home with Pastor Sharon Hauserman officiating. Burial will follow in Community Gardens Cemetery in New Lexington.
