Eddie Martin Channel

May 20, 1944 — April 5, 2026

The Villages, Florida

Eddie Martin Channel, a devoted family man, veteran, and cherished member of the communities he called home, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 5, 2026, in The Villages, Florida.

Born on May 20, 1944, in Oakfield, Ohio, Eddie lived a life marked by hard work, dedication, and enduring friendships.

Eddie honorably served his country in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War, demonstrating commitment and bravery. Following his military service, he spent nearly 20 years working for the Peabody Coal Company. When the company closed, Eddie transitioned to a new chapter at Higgbee’s, where he continued his dedication until retirement. His retirement years brought him great joy as he embraced the simple pleasures of life. Eddie was often found driving the backroads of Crooksville, soaking in the serene countryside views that meant so much to him. He treasured the time spent with his longtime friends at Sleepy’s Tavern in Crooksville, sharing stories and laughter. Eddie was also a loyal member of the Thursday Morning Breakfast Club in New Lexington, where he and his fellow retirees enjoyed early mornings filled with camaraderie and cheer. Above all, Eddie was a devoted grandfather who adored his grandchildren and took immense pride in their lives. His move to Florida was motivated by his desire to be closer to his daughter, reflecting the deep bonds that defined his family life.

Left behind to mourn his passing are his daughter and son-in-law, Valerie and John Goldsberry; his grandchildren, Aspen Goldsberry, Sierra (Taylor) Maclam and Chloe Goldsberry; his great-grandchildren, Hallie and Brooks as well as his entire Hillside Family.

Eddie is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Jane (Hoffer) Channel; his son, Eddie Channel, Jr.; his parents, George Channel and Rosemary (Russell) Kaplan as well as his maternal grandmother who helped raised him, Jennie Musick Plant.

A graveside service to celebrate Eddie’s life will be held on April 14, 2026, at 1:00 p.m., at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, located at 12877 Twp Rd 1206 NE, Crooksville, Ohio with Deacon Mark Weiner officiating.
