Deborah Ann Cale

Deborah Ann (Tewksbury) Cale, 56, of Chester, Virginia, formerly of Crooksville, Ohio passed away at 5:15 PM, Wednesday, October 26, 2011 at Bons Secour St. Mary's Hospital in Richmond, Virginia surrounded by her loving family after a courageous two-year battle with ovarian cancer.

Debbie was born August 25, 1955 in Zanesville, Ohio the daughter of the late Howard M. Tewksbury and Patricia J. Heskett Tewksbury of Crooksville.

Debbie was a 1973 graduate of Crooksville High School, Crooksville, Ohio. She graduated in 1978 from Wilmington College in Ohio with her bachelor's degree and Morehead State University, Morehead, Kentucky in 1980 with her master's degree. In 1984, she married Kevin Cale and over the next fifteen years moved with her husband to seven different locations as his devoted "Army wife". Mrs. Cale was on the board of the Officers Wives Club at Fort Hood, Texas. Debbie and Kevin became the parents of two beautiful daughters, Lindsay and Kylie. As the girls became involved in sports, Debbie held positions on the boards of Virginia International Gymnastics Schools in Virginia and Elite Gymnastics in Kansas. She was the field hockey Team Mom for Thomas Dale High School in Chester, Virginia as well as the Christopher Newport University field hockey team and became known as "Momma Cale".

Debbie was well known for her expert quilting and needlepoint craft work. She remained faithful to her membership in First Hope United Methodist Church in Crooksville.

In addition to her husband and mother, Debbie is survived by her afore-mentioned daughters, Lindsay Michelle Cale of Chester, Virginia and Kylie Marie Cale who attends college in Newport News, Virginia; her brother and sister-in-law, Roger and Elaine (Rice) Tewksbury of Huntingburg, Indiana. She was preceded in death by her father.

Friends and family will be received 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., Friday, November 4, 2011 at First Hope United Methodist Church, 102 N. Buckeye St., Crooksville. Funeral services and a celebration of Debbie's life will be held at 12:00 noon, Saturday, November 5 at the church with Rev. Gay E. Blau officiating. Burial will follow in Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia. Memorial contributions may be made to the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition, Inc.
