Daniel Yoder, Jr

Daniel Yoder, Jr., 85, of Crooksville, passed away at 7:22 AM, at Brookdale Senior Living in Zanesville following a long battle with Lou Gehrig's Disease, ALS.

The son of a coal miner, he was born, March 3, 1930 in Crooksville to the late, Daniel, Sr., and Kathryn Poland Yoder.

Daniel served his country in the United States Air Force in the Korean War from 1950-1953 where he was attached to the 96th Bombardment Wing (Medium) Squadron (SAC) and spent time at six duty stations in six states during his short career. After his discharge from service, he returned to Crooksville, married the love of his life, Josephine and worked at Cesco Industries in Crooksville until his retirement.

He was a member of the Rose Farm Church of Christ where he served as treasurer and elder. He was also a member of the VFW Post 9090 in Crooksville and the Zanesville Coin Club.

Daniel is survived by his sister, Barbara Longwell of Blue Rock; his sister-in-law, Dorothy Zollinger and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Daniel was preceded in death by loving wife, Josephine Lewis Yoder, who passed away September 18, 2010; his sisters, Donna Morrison and Mary Pierce and his brothers, Ilber Yoder and Rodney Yoder.

Friends and family will be received 10:00 AM-1:00 PM, Tuesday, July 27, 2015 at the GOEBEL FUNERAL HOME, 36 N. BUCKEYE ST., CROOKSVILLE. Funeral services and a celebration of Daniel's life will follow at 1:00 PM on Tuesday with Pastor Larry Taylor officiating. Burial will follow in Iliff Cemetery in McLuney.
