Clay Matthew Gorby

Clay Matthew Gorby, 26, of Zanesville, formerly of Crooksville passed away Thursday, May 18, 2017 in Zanesville.

He was born July 22, 1990 in Zanesville, the son of John Gorby and Taci Himmelspach Gorby.

Clay was a horse owner/trainer at Melrose Stables in Hopewell and a member of the United States Trotters Association. In addition, Clay was a member of the Church of The Atonement in Crooksville.

Clay is survived by his mother, Taci Gorby of Zanesville; his father, John Gorby of Crooksville; his sister and brother-in-law, Kayla and Cory Daubenmire of Crooksville; his sister, Whitney Ewing of Roseville; his grandmother, Linda Gorby of Crooksville; his grandfather, Fred Himmelspach Jr., of Zanesville; his aunts and uncles, Fred Himmelspach III, Bryan (Tammy) Gorby, Jerris (Mark) Patton, Brent (Wendy) Gorby; his cousins, Bryan Jr., Ryan, Zack (Miranda), Luke, Jennifer (Steve), Kyle (Audra), Lindsey (Will), Curt, Olivia, Victoria, Chase, Nick, Brittany (Tyler), Mitchell, Erin, Easton, Gunner, MaKenna, Sophia, Hayden, Eylin, Kellan, Emery, Piper, Addison and many more loving friends and family.

Clay is preceded in death by his grandparents; Judith Barnhart, John Gorby, Betty Himmelspach, Fred Himmelspach Sr. and Donald and Barbara Barnhart.

Family and friends will be received 3:00 PM-8:00 PM, Monday, May 22, 2017 at the GOEBEL FUNERAL HOME, 36 N. BUCKEYE ST., CROOKSVILLE. A Mass of Christian burial will be held 11:00 AM, Tuesday, May 23 at the Church of The Atonement with Fr. C.M. Haddad as celebrant. Clay will be buried in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Crooksville beside his grandfather, John.
