Charles R. Wood, Jr

Charles Raymond Wood, Jr., 78, of Crooksville, Ohio passed away at 10:24 AM, Saturday, October 8, 2016 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.

Chuck was born May 11, 1938 in Roseville, the son of the late Charles R. and Sylvia (Bash) Wood, Sr.

He was a former pottery worker and a retired truck driver having been employed as a truck driver by Hennes, Columbia Cement, Ruan and Krogers, to name a few. Chuck was a former police officer with the Crooksville Police Department and he retired from the department as a Lieutenant. In addition, he was a former Auxiliary Deputy with the Perry County Sheriff's Department. He was recently appointed to the Crooksville Police Pensioners' Board.

Chuck served our country in the U S Air Force during the Korean Conflict. Also, he was a former member of the Crooksville Eagles, Crooksville American Legion, VFW and Crooksville Fire Department.

He is survived by his daughter, Tamara Reavley of Crooksville; his sons, Scott Wood (Rose Maxwell), Gary Wood and Kenny (Kimi) Wood, all of Crooksville; his sister, Rhea (Charles) Pitcock of White Cottage; his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Kay and Butch Ansel, Gerald and Bev Brown, Wayne Brown, all of Crooksville and Terry and Bev Brown of O'Fallen, Illinois; 16 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Chuck was preceded in death by his wife, Donna R. (Brown) Wood who passed away February 3, 2016; his sons, Charles Douglas Wood and Donald Ray Wood; his sister, Darlene Sue Stull; his son-in-law, Harold McHenry; his grandson, Dwayne Thompson; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Donald and Lorena Brown and sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Mary Jane Brown and Nugget and Becky Brown.

Family and friends will be received 2-4 and 6-8 PM, Tuesday, October 11 at GOEBEL FUNERAL HOME, 36 N. BUCKEYE ST., CROOKSVILLE. Funeral services and a celebration of Chuck's life will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, October 12 at the funeral home with Keith Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Crooksville Cemetery.
