Charles Edward “Chuck” Rose, Jr., a man whose life was full and vibrant, passed away on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, at his home following a battle with cancer.
Born on November 4, 1964, in Zanesville, Chuck didn’t just live life, he lived it like it was a high-stakes hunting game.
Chuck was a proud union sheet metal worker for eighteen and a half years, as a member of the Sheet Metal Worker’s Union Local 24, he crafted more than just metal—he crafted a reputation for being the guy everyone knew, the guy who never met a stranger, and quite possibly the guy who could “tear up an anvil,” according to his father. If there were an extreme sport for living life full throttle, Chuck would have been a gold medalist. His hobbies? Oh, buckle up. Chuck could hunt, fish, trap (the not-so-glamorous raccoons and skunks included), make wine, keep bees, and still have time to entertain his cat, Helen, by casting a fishing pole just for the fun of it. He wasn’t just a hunter of deer, geese, ducks, and squirrels — he was a hunter of fun moments and good times. Chuck was a member of First Hope United Methodist Church, the Perry County Anglers Club, and the Claylick Bow Hunting Club. From a scrap haul to hunting trails, Chuck embraced every part of his multifaceted life with gusto, and a little bit of that Chuck Rose irreverence. His approach to life was clear: there were no rules, except for the rule to live life on his own terms, which he did, with the speed and style of a bullet leaving a muzzleloader barrel. His opinion of what others thought was famously nonchalant. And that’s why you remember him, fondly and with a smile. Chuck wasn’t just a man; he was a story waiting to be told. So here’s to Chuck Rose, the man who invented the whiskey dent, redefined mischief, and lived loud enough for all of us. We’ll miss you, Chuck.
Left behind are his wife of 39 years, Linda (Cady) Rose; his son, Jordan Rose; his sister, Lisa Rose and his brother, Dave (Lisa) Rose; his brothers-in-law, Rich (Jackie) Cady, Jeff (Brenda) Cady and David (Amy) Cady as well as a whole host of nieces and nephews.
Chuck is preceded in death by his parents, Charles E. and Carol Jean (Queen) Rose and his parents-in-law, Richard and Jeannine Cady.
For those wishing to celebrate the incredible life and mischievous spirit of Chuck Rose, memorial gatherings and services will be held on Saturday, June 20, 2026, at Goebel Funeral Home & Cremation Services, located at 36 North Buckeye St, Crooksville, OH 43731. The Memorial Gathering runs from 1 PM to 4 PM, followed immediately by the Memorial Service at 4 PM.
