Charles Mark Patton, 73, of Crooksville, Ohio passed away at 4:13 PM, Sunday, May 24, 2026 at his residence following a three-year battle with cancer, surrounded by his loving family. He was born Saturday, April 4, 1953 in Zanesville, the son of the late Robert Patton and Betty (Bonifant) Patton Searls of Crooksville. Mark graduated from Crooksville in the Class of 1971. He immediately went to work at the Cesco Plant of Ferro Corporation in Crooksville from which he retired. He was a member of the former Church of The Atonement Catholic Church in Crooksville. Mark’s greatest joy was his family. He loved each and every one and they loved him in return. He will be fondly remembered for this warm, beautiful smile which reflected his very kind and loving heart. He will be very sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. Mark was an avid sports fan of The Ohio State Buckeyes, all of Crooksville Ceramics sports teams and New Lexington Panthers sports and The Marching Ceramics. He had been a member of the Crooksville Eagles where he played on their softball team for many years. He had coached many Little League teams, girl’s softball, baseball, having the opportunity to coach his children and many of his nieces and nephews. He was an avid golfer and was an original member of the Eaglesticks Tuesday Night Golf League. He LOVED playing golf. Along with sports, the man loved to fish. Many days he spent on the water or at a pond with his family. In addition to his mother, left behind to mourn his passing and carry on his legacy is his beloved wife of 48 years, Jerris (Gorby) Patton; his children, Jennifer (Patton) Woodward and Kyle (Audra) Patton; his sister, Marcia (Rick) Aichele; his grandchildren, Brittany Swingle, Mitchell (Cierra) Swingle, Easton Woodward, Gunner Patton, Makenna Patton and Gabe Patton; his great-grandchildren, Addison Calihan, Jayce Swingle and Julian Cole Swingle; his mother-in-law, Linda Gorby; many nieces and nephews. In addition to his father, Mark was preceded in death by his twin sister, Charlotte Marie Patton and two other siblings, Marlin Patton and Marla Patton; his step-father, Harry Searls; his father-in-law, John Gorby and his nephew, Clay Gorby. The Patton family has chosen cremation for Mark. They would like to thank the kind folks at Genesis Cancer Care Center in Zanesville and the Perry County Cancer Alliance and Perry County Cancer Crawl for their generosity to Mark in his battle with cancer.
