Charles Roy Higgins

Charles "Roy" Higgins, 85 of Roseville, Ohio passed away at 4:45 PM, Thursday, August 4, 2011 at Genesis Good Samaritan Hospital in Zanesville surrounded by his family.

Roy was born January 30, 1926 in Roseville, the son of the late Charles and Sarah Carrell Higgins.

Mr Higgins was the owner of Higgins Lumber Company in Ironspot which he founded in 1957 and operated together with his wife for 54 years. He served our country during WW2 in the US Navy. Roy was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Roseville, American Legion Post 71 in Roseville, Crooksville-Roseville VFW Post 9090 and Doric Lodge 172 F. & A.M. in Deavertown.

Roy is survived by his wife of 59 years, Marilyn Cunningham Higgins; his daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and Bill Mount of Zanesville; his son, Bob Higgins of Roseville; his grandchildren, Melissa (Kyle) Riggle, Jaime (Jason) Schaumleffel and Lacey Higgins; his great grandchildren, Madison and Jacob Riggle and two more on the way; his niece Jeannie Woolen and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

In addition to his parents, Roy was preceded in death by his brother and sister-in-law, Fred and Norma Higgins and nephew, Earl Higgins.

The Higgins family will receive visitors 2-4 and 6-8 PM, Sunday, August 7 at GOEBEL FUNERAL HOME, 36 N. BUCKEYE ST. CROOKSVILLE. Funeral services and a celebration of Roy's life will be held at 1:00 Monday, August 8 at the funeral home with Pastor Jerry Sutton officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery near Roseville with full military honors.

Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Roy to St. Paul's United Methodist Church, 146 N. Main St., Roseville, OH 43777, The Salvation Army, 515 Putnam Ave., Zanesville, Oh 43701 or the Muskingum County Animal Shelter, 1430 Newark Rd., Zanesville, Ohio 43701 or charity of your choice.
Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
