Charles W. Appleman, 83, of Corning, Ohio (Portersville) passed away at 2:25 PM, Thursday, July 15, 2010 at Genesis Hospice Morrison in Zanesville following an extended illness.

He was born September 22, 1926 in Morgan County, the son of the late Halcey and Shirley Kent Appleman. Charles was a US Army veteran of WW2. He had worked for 60 years as a journeyman lineman of IBEW Local 71(formerly Local 981) and was a 35 year member of Peerless Lodge 591 F. & A.M. in Crooksville and VFW Post 9090 Crooksville-Roseville.

Charles is survived by his wife of 27 years, Claudine Rosser Smith Appleman; his sons, David(Vicki) Appleman of Wilmington and Steve(Cathy) Appleman of Somerset; his step-daughter, Mary Lou(James) Campbell of Avondale; his step-sons, Harry(Sue) Smith of Roseville, George(Dana) Smith of Malta, Ronnie Smith and Randy(Vicki) Smith all of Crooksville; his sister, Nelda(Chuck) Halboth of Grand Junction, Colorado; many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Clara Barnett Appleman; sister, Mary Catherine Appleman; step-son, Richard Smith and step-grandson, Brian Smith.

The Appleman family will receive visitors 3-5 & 6-8 PM, Monday, July 19 at GOEBEL FUNERAL HOME, 36 N. BUCKEYE ST., CROOKSVILLE where funeral services and a celebration of Charles' life will be held at 11 AM, Tuesday, July 20 with Pastor mary Perani officiating. Burial will follow in Zion Cemetery, Portersville with full military honors.
