Amy Lynn (Simmons) McClellan passed from this world into the arms of Jesus at 12:08am on Monday, February 27, 2024.
Amy was born in Zanesville, Ohio to John and Jennie (Sowers) Simmons on November 11, 1971. Amy grew up in Crooksville and attended and graduated from Crooksville High School in May 1990. While in school, Amy was a cheerleader and cheered on the Ceramics since she was seven years old.
Amy loved the Lord and was saved when she was eight years old. She attended Mt. Vernon Nazarene College where she graduated with a Bachelors in Arts Degree in 1996. While attending college, she went on a mission trip to Belize and she returned feeling blessed and grateful for all the Lord provided in her life. While in college, she met her future husband, Michael McClellan; they were married after graduation and were blessed with three wonderful children, Jenna Anne, Hannah Elizabeth and Michael Nathan II. Amy's children were the joy of her life and she was always their biggest cheerleader, encouraging them in whatever they wanted to do. Amy was blessed to be a stay at home mom for many years.
When she went to work, she was a substitute teacher for area schools and later went to work for O-I, Brockway Glass until she became ill in December of 2022. Even after she was diagnosed, she worked hard to keep her family going. One thing she was happy to accomplish was for her daughter, Hannah to attend Tim Tebow's "Night to Shine" for special needs kids. Even though Amy was not able to attend this year, Hannah was able to go thanks to her Mom's determination and help from Aunt Shell, Dad and Uncle Johnny.
Amy loved doing crafts and enjoyed getting her little craft group together when she felt up to it. She also loved having luncheons with her special little group, Deb Nelson, Pat Brooks, Helen Paxon and her Mom. This was always a good time of fellowship, laughter, tears and prayers.
Left to mourn her passing are her parents, John and Jennie; her brother, Johnny; her husband, Michael; her three children, Jenna, Hannah and Michael; very special friends, Mark and Holly Wright, of Michigan who are her kid's godparents; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ken and Jane McClellan and her brother-in-law, Matt McClellan; many uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends.
Preceding Amy in death are her maternal grandparents, Leonard and Frances Sowers and Eldon McHenry; her uncles, Rick, Leonard, and Pete Sowers; her paternal grandparents, Clover Simmons and Margaret Lounsbury; her uncles, Ken, Jay, and Ray Simmons and her aunt, Marlene Wood.
At Amy's passing, those of us who were blessed to be loved and cared for by her will miss her terribly but we know that one day we will have a joyous reunion in heaven. Calling hours will be 10:00am-1:00pm, Friday, March 1, 2024 at Goebel Funeral Home, 36 N. Buckeye St., Crooksville where funeral services follow at 1:00pm with Pastor Scott Hutchinson and Pat Brooks officiating. Amy will then be laid to eternal rest in Rose Hill Cemetery, Roseville.
